hey Alicambs heres another H/D fic Phoenix Tears see if u can add it in ur H/D Hogwarts era list.... am an avid H/D slash fan and im generally prejudiced against fem!Harry fics but this one broke my prejudices anyway....wat i like about this one is despite an old concept the author had been able tp present it in a refreshing and believable manner....and it thankfully is free from most cliches... and the charachterizations are pretty apt...more or less...another fact i like is that it is mostly dark and angsty and not light and fluffy ( i cringe at fluff and sugarysweet fics)

Hi

Unlike the listings, the Pre and Post Hogwarts lists are my own personal recs for stories I really love, and I'm really not fond of Harry as a girl stories (although I have read a few). I googled the fic - Phoenix Tears by slytherin-nette and read it. I agree with you that it's quite well done, but still not to my taste.

hi!!! i found a few H/D fics that were really very good... they r Obake's All Torn Down, Penelpoe Z's The Untold Want, and last but NOT the least Atenora's The Losing Side ( its in Noire Sensus.com) see how u like them!!!

I found The Losing Side, but it's a WIP that will never be finished, which was very cruel of you because it is rather good!

The I moved onto the others on ffnet and read them. Both good and both WIPS that will never be completed! Aggghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

I do so wish authors wouldn't post unless they have a fic ready, or at least planned out. Even a quick post telling us the way the story was going to end / resolve would be partly satisfying!

After The Rain by Arca its not xactly slash but definitely pre slash! its on noire.sensus.com ,The Beginning by Reena and Love For The Strong Hearted and of course The Cicatrix Cycle by Ivy Blossom its one of the classics but really i like Origins the best.

Funnily enough I am really not an angst fan and found The Cicatrax cycle far, far, far too angst ridden to be read with any pleasure. Not a fluffy person ether. I like a plot, action, adventure, intrigue, deception and humour whenever possible. :-) Fortunately there is so much written in H/D that it is usual possible to find something to read that fits the bill and often I read stuff I think I won't like and I do..., but angst comes pretty damn low on the list of my favourite things.

check out ALL of Atenora's fics on noire .sensus yep m sorry TLS nevr got completed ....DAMN!!!! but her one shots just AS good she deserves to b called the ULTIMATE queen of h/d angst!!!

check out Open Your Eyes by author Blue ....all i can say that it is UNLIKE ANY i repeat ANY H/D fanfic i have EVER read before..... it is absolutely GORGEOUS and HORRIFYING and bordering on the surreal i wud say its both and surreal and macabre and it left me all shivering and i wanted 2 throttle the author for ever writing this... read it and u will know wat i mean.... a word of pleasant warning this is very dark one..... u cand find it in PSA

ummm ....some of your Hogwarts era list had fics by Lady Vader and Aja if am not wrong...... EVERYONE who likes H/D will love the works of these following authors: Rhysenn, Maya, Lady Vader, Aja. While its true that am partial to H/D angst i do like the occassional dose of Jennavre..... as long as it remains occassional. But the reason WHY I like angst is this.... i like Harry and Draco to be as IC and canon like as possible.....i believe a relation between them cannot be portrarayed without elaborating the angst element. Its difficult enough to fall in love and in Harry and Draco's case more so u cannot simply show them overcoming their differences which is of immense magnitude overnight....and its a way difficult process to try to see someone you abhorred and loathed in a completely different light.....perceptions/impressions you know cannot transform overnight.... it does not you reckon happen! that's precisely why i like angst...because well i can identify with it....

I do enjoy those authors and I can cope with angst, to a degree. However, angst is probably my least favourite of all genres mainly because it is often so badly done, so drawn out, so unbelievably conceived. I've read stories where the angst never lets up, where misunderstanding after misunderstanding occurs and I just want to scream. I don't think that angst needs to be heavy handed, because you can show suspicion and dislike etc. without going overboard. It tends to become angsty when things become one sided, but even that can be written and portrayed with subtle humour and cleverness. There again I've read a number of death fic which have made me cry but have been so well constructed and written that I've very much appreciated them.

I'm very fond of Mylar (Mohinder and Sylar of Heroes - Lady Vader's done a couple of Mylar stories I adore) which tends not to be angst driven but instead rather delicious, twisted and wicked (probably because Sylar is such a great villain). :-)

I too like my Harry and Draco very, very IC and it is the antagonism and the potentially deep emotions behind that antagonism that makes for such rewarding reading. Jennavere is fun, as you say for occasional reads, but about as OOC as is possible. So too are many of the Creature / Veela fics, but some are really original and clever and I think that's why I developed an affection for the genre even if it does have an inordinate amount of derivative drivel.

Oh, and I have appreciated your recs, so thanks again for them. They've had me exploring quite a few authors.

hey even i like Veela fics( as long as they are slash and H/D slash precisely....) here's a Veela fic you can add to your Veela fic recs it's Veela magic by Lasair its probably in Fiction Alley.....its i think one of the most original way of depicting Veela myths and i dare say its one of the most unusual Veela stories ever.... and you also have a rec list for Harry/ other do you not then you can add this fic: Fate's Hand by Idika its on ff.net although the writing is exceptionally good and the prose dreamy and lucid and the author introduces a lot of foreign concepts alien to the HP universe altogether its well worth reading even if it tends to become a bit too complicated at times another thing the author simply likes to talk talk talk ( elaborate sometimes rather needlessly} so the story hasnt kicked off as yet but I anyways enjoyed how it has progressed so far ( even though the 1st chapter streched my incredulity somewhat} another warning Harry hear appears to be 00C not evil or nasty, but not at all like himself . Although there are plausible and very believable reasons why he behaves so. I want to hear your opinion of this story as your opinion are mostly pretty apt and correct since it is a VERY popular fic...it has almost 1000 reviews for only 10 chapters ( and that also when the author herself says that the "real" story hasnt started yet} it will be nice to hear your take on it.... according to me what i didnt like about this fic that it is somewhat pro Voldemort.....
